GF Machining Solutions to demonstrate truly scalable Automation solution with System 3R TRANSFORMER Concept with six-axis FANUC robot at EMO

Sep 19, 2017 3:08 PM

GF Machining Solutions’ System 3R brand’s genuinely scalable Automation solutions at EMO Hannover 2017 will demonstrate how this GF Division advances the flexibility and autonomy of precision parts and mold and die manufacturers. System 3R’s well-known TRANSFORMER scalable Automation solution with a six-axis FANUC robot will be in the spotlight at GF Machining Solutions’ booth (Hall 27, Stand B24) at EMO Hannover 2017, September 18–23, in Hannover, Germany.

This flexibility-advancing Automation solution will be shown at EMO Hannover 2017 with GF Machining Solutions’ new Mikron MILL P 500 U high-performance Milling machine, as part of an interactive manufacturing flow focusing on automotive lighting.

Known as “The Pioneer” of Tooling, Automation and software for the past 50 years, System 3R offers both stationary and rail versions of its Automation solutions with FANUC industrial robots. The FANUC solutions cover applications across a wide range of requirements, from transfer weight (70–700 kg) and radial reach (up to 3,400 mm) to complex transfer movements and parts handling. Whatever the requirement, the FANUC solution can be tailored to serve each customer’s needs.

The direct benefit of the System 3R TRANSFORMER with a six-axis FANUC robot is cost-effective yet flexible Automation through state-of-the-art technology and smart technical solutions using standardized modules. Moreover, with System 3R’s user-friendly cell WorkShopManager management software, complex Automation is made easy to use, and manufacturers can count on a single-source supplier—GF Machining Solutions—to get them up and running with Automation. These characteristics ensure greater return on users’ investment.

Begin, add, extend

Scalable Automation with FANUC robots is engineered to grow with the customer’s needs. For example, the customer can begin with a single machine and small magazine capacity and then—as requirements dictate—add a second machine and a rotary magazine for more capacity and extend it with a FANUC robot on rails.

A wide range of customer-centric solutions are available to suit every requirement, thanks to standardized modules: FANUC robot with 70–700 kg accommodating transfer weights, rotary magazine boasting large capacity in a small footprint, full or half rack magazine for electrodes or workpieces, LFT Small loading station representing a single station for reloading workpieces on pallets or for use as a loading station, LFT Full Rack magazine, LFT Large loading station for loading and unloading parts without stopping the Automation cell, loading/index system for loading and unloading parts without stopping the Automation cell; and a machine for cleaning, rinsing and drying workpieces.

Available to support manufacturers’ efficient use of Automation is System 3R’s WorkShopManager (WSM) user-friendly cell management software. With WSM, the necessary data is quickly entered in a structured manner, and the cell operator has a quick, precise overview of the entire process chain. Flexibility is increased because the order of machining priorities can be changed at any time, and WSM makes preparation of automated cells simpler and safer. The risk of human error is minimized and manufacturers benefit from increased process security with WSM.

Like all GF Machining Solutions technologies, System 3R Automation solutions are backed by Customer Services, including Machine Support to optimize equipment uptime. Machine Support includes annual reconditioning to minimize production stops while optimizing function, precision and performance. With Customer Services, manufacturers have access to comprehensive services for System 3R Automation, reference systems as well as masters and calibration tools.
