LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., April 13, 2018 – GF Machining Solutions will demonstrate its high-performance AgieCharmilles LASER P 400 U 5-axis machine at NPE2018: The Plastics Show in Orlando, Florida, May 7-11. Visitors to the company’s booth #S37079 will discover how the solution brings together texturing (cosmetic and functional), marking and engraving operations to provide endless design possibilities for complex molds and dies.
To highlight the functionality of the AgieCharmilles LASER P 400 U, GF Machining Solutions will feature two technical collaborations. The first comes from RocTool who is changing packaging design standards by using the AgieCharmilles LASER P 400 U to develop an innovative light-diffraction effect on steel molds and associated parts. The second project, from the Proper Group, features a laser-textured center console for an automotive application.
The LASER P 400 U machine features a patented, dual laser head that incorporates both a fiber nanosecond laser and a femtosecond pulsed laser. This allows easy, repeatable laser texturing, marking and burr-free engraving of a surface with a single machine setup. For instance, the LASER P 400 U simplifies the machining process for all aesthetic and functional elements of a bottle cap mold cavity including grooves, serration, logos, engraving, and special texturing.
With a footprint of only 48.4" x 87.8", the LASER P 400 U easily fits into existing production environments. It accommodates workpieces with a maximum diameter and height of 4.7" and is automation ready to allow for unattended night and weekend operation. The machine easily partners with a System 3R pallet changer to further boost efficiency and flexibility.
